Six Dog Teams assisted Upper Wharfedale FRT in a search of the moors between
Grassington and How Stean Gorge in icy weather for 55 year old Leeds walker who
failed to arrive at How Stean Gorge to meet as prearranged with his party. The
man was found by Police in Skipton unaware of the search being made for him

Six Dog Teams called out by Cumbria Police to assist in a search of coastline
and sand dunes to the west side of Walney Island for a 30 year old man from
Stoke On Trent. He was believed to be suffering from depression. Found by Police
at a friends home in Cornwall

One Dog Team assisted Cleveland SRT in a search of Ravengill area
following a report by three youths of hearing distress type whistle signals in
the area. Nothing found within one-mile radius of reported location. Believed
later to have been made by a school party who had been in the area.

Two Dog Teams called to assist Edale MRT in search Hospital grounds for a
missing Doctor. Turned up safe prior to search commencing.
13 Feb PDMRO
Four Dog Teams called out by Derbyshire Police to assist in extensive
search of Ladybower Reservoir for a depressed 43-year-old man. Body later found
by a walker, under the ice in the reservoir.
28 Feb LDSAMRA
One Dog Team assisted Keswick MRT in a search of Moses Trod area for male
walker lost in the mist, found safe in area, tired and disorientated by Keswick
MRT member.
March
03 Mar SWERA
During Sunday training Search Dog with Mac with Alex Lyons and Search Dog
Tarn with Ian Spreckley located a team of walkers with a member who had injured
an ankle. Assisted by three other Dog Teams they carried the injured person off
the hill. (DOG FIND)
08 Mar SWERA
Six Dog Teams assisted Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in a search of
area surrounding Moorhaven Psychiatric Hospital for a missing 49-year-old female
patient. Found by DRG team members uninjured, but cold and wet.
09 Mar SWERA
Five Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in a
search of area surrounding Moorhaven Psychiatric Hospital for a missing
30-year-old male suicidal patient. Nothing found
13 Mar PDMRO
Dog Teams called to assist Edale MRT in a search for a 78-year-old
male missing from Newstead Hospital. Found safe but hypothermic by Edale team
members.
14 Mar SWERA
Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in arch
of area surrounding Moorhaven Psychiatric Hospital for a missing 24-year-old
female patient. Found in Hospital grounds by Police dog handler.
15 Mar LDSAMRA
Six Dog Teams assisted Penrith MRT in a search of Great Dun Fell for ski
instructor missing whilst checking snow conditions. A further Ten Dog Teams were
attending next morning. Man found cold but well at 06:00 by Search Dog Arrow
with Ric Outhwaite. (DOG FIND)

Five Dog Teams assisted Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) for seven
walkers lost on Ten Tor’s event training, overdue at Lynch Tor in wet misty
conditions. Found by DRG members fit and well at Tavy Hole.

02 Apr SWERA
Four Dog Teams assisted Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in a search
for seven youngsters, from Bidiford School, who were under taking Ten Tor’s
training. Found by Police having walked back to the road.
06 Apr NESRA
Three Dog Teams called to assist Cleveland SRT in a search for three
girls on a Duke of Edinburgh Expedition, on the North Yorkshire Moors, who
became disorientated during bad weather. They were well equipped and decided to
camp. Found by Scarborough SRT members near Hamer House Gothland, cold but
otherwise fit and well.
07 Apr MPMAP
Eight Dog Teans called to assist Bowland Pennine MRT in a search for a
6-year-old boy who had become separated from his father whilst on a mountain
biking expedition, in the Trough of Bowland area. Found cold but safe by Bolton
MRT members at Black Clough, Langden Castle. 21 Apr NESRA One Dog Team called to
assist Cleveland SRT in a search for three well equipped “Lyke Wake” walkers,
who had become disorientated and benighted in bad weather, they walked out in
the Bilsdale area at first light cold and tired, were found by Police, prior to
search commencing.

Five Dog Teams assisted Dartmoor Rescue Group in a search for six
missing youngsters training for the Ten Tors event. Found in Dartmoor’s biggest
bog Fox Tor Mires by DRG member.
May
13 May SWERA
Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in a
search for a 78-year-old father and 43-year-old son missing on Dartmoor. Team
members on route to the incident control spotted their car, this enabled the
search area to be reduced considerably. Both were located by a lone walker and
with assistance of Police helicopter were evacuated from the moor, cold wet and
tired.
15 May SWERA
Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in a
search after a group of people walking on Dartmoor reported hearing distress
signals, in foggy conditions. A team of disoriented Sea Cadets were located by
DRG members, three casualties evacuated by Police helicopter suffering from mild
hypothermia, the rest of the part were only tired and cold.
18 May SWERA
Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) for an
asthma sufferer reported missing on the Ten Tors event. Located and evacuated by
the Army
18 May SWERA
Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in a
search for a missing member of a Army Team on Ten Tors. Casualty located in
Steeperton Gorge, having fallen and broken her leg. Found by Search Dog Star
with Joyce Hedges. Evacuation was completed by helicopter. (DOG FIND)
19 May SWERA
Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Okehampton) in a
search of Belstone for a 15-year-old walker. Casualty located by Search Dog
Dizzy with Peter Richardson in a collapsed condition, suffering from abdominal
pains and shock. Evacuation by helicopter. (DOG FIND)
19 May NESRA
Dog Teams called to assist Cleveland SRT in a search for two girls
aged 8 & 10, missing from home. Believed to be in Guisborough Forest. Found by
Cleveland SRT members within the forest, in a frightened condition, but
uninjured.

Two Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in a
search for a 30 year old R.A.F. check point officer, engaged on the Ten Tors
event, Missing after he went for a walk. Located by Search Dog Dart with Nicki

Dog Team called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) to search
Hare Tor area after distress signals were reported. A six man team were found by
Search Dog Scruff & Search Dog Mac with Alex Lyons, very disoriented in
visibility down to 10 meters (DOG FIND)

Three Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in
a search for a 36-year-old man missing from a walking party. Casualty found by
local Milkman at Pounsworthy, fit and well.

Dog Team called to assist Kirkby Stephen SRT in a search for a man who
had become separated from his walking companions, doing the coast-to-coast walk.
Man walked off the hill prior to search commencing.

Dog Team called to assist Kirkby Stephen SRT in a search for a missing
competitor in a long distance marathon, Competitor eventually found check point
unaided, in thick mist and light rain.
08 June MPMAP
Dog Teams called to assist Calder Valley SRT in a search following a
report from a landowner, indicating that he had heard cries for help coming from
the moor, after intensive search of the area nothing significant found.
09 June SWERA
Four Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in a
search for two men overdue from the Dartmoor Perambulation. Found fit and well
by Police.
14 June SWERA
Dog Team called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Okehampton) in a
search for a 18 year old youth who had walked off from a bivy site after an
argument with his friends. The youth was found uninjured by Search Dog Solo &
Strike with Paddy Cummins. (DOG FIND) 22 June LDSAMRA Dog Team called to assist
Wasdale MRT in a search for two 14-year-old boys from a group of 37 on the
summit of Scafell Pike in the mist. The group had no food torches or spare
clothing, every windy and wet conditions. Members of Wasdale MRT at the Samson
Stones uninjured found the two boys.
22 June NESRA
Dog Teams called to assist Cleveland SRT in a search for five overdue
walkers talking part in the Lyke Wake walk, found by Police having walked down
to Egton Bridge shortly after midnight. Tires and wet but no injuries.
23 June
NESRA Dog Teams called to assist Cleveland SRT in a search for seven
Air Training Cops Cadets overdue on the Lyke Wake walk. Turned up in Rosedale,
where they reported to control, having missed 5 check points.

SWERA Four Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock)
in a search for five missing walkers who were taking part in a silver Duke of
Edinburgh award scheme failed to turn up at rendezvous. Found fit and well by
members for DRG Tavistock.

woman with leg injuries.

LDSAMRA Four Dog Teams called to assist Keswick MRT in a search
following a report from a number of campers, of a crashed Hot Air Balloon, above
Seathwaite, nothing was found.
06 July
PDMRO Two Dog Teams called to assist Derby MRT in a search for elderly
man, body recovered next day from the river Derwent.
18 July
LDSAMRA Four Dog Teams called to assist Keswick MRT in a search for
two boys who had split from a group. Found by Eskdale team members at Samon
Stones.

SWERA Three Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in
a search for a 21-year-old female Horse rider overdue at Postbridge. Rider had
become disorientated and benighted. Found by Search Dog Dart with Nicki Lyons

Seven Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in
a search for a depressed 54-year-old man, reported missing on Dartmoor. Located
in area by DRG team members, dead through an overdose.
04 Aug SWERA
Seven Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton) in
a search for a 18 year old youth who had become separated from his party. Found
safe and well apart form being disorientated by DRG members.
05 Aug PDMRO
Four Dog Teams called to assist Police in a search for a 60-year-old
man out walking. The man was known to have a medical condition. He had failed to
rendezvous with his wife at a pub. It transpired that he was at the wrong pub
and reported his wife missing.

Seven Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Okehampton) in
a search for a elderly male, missing from a residential home, found by Police as
dogs were being deployed.
10 Aug PDMRO
Dog Team called to assist Buxton MRT in a search for a 10-year-old boy
reported missing by parents. Boy found by Police walking on the road before dog
team deployed.

Dog Team called to assist Holme Valley MRT in a search for a missing
7-year-old girl from Huddersfield. Found dead by Police Dog handler and SARDA
advisor Ian Ramsay. A homicide investigation commenced.

Six Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Okehampton) in a
search for three Duke of Edinburgh award walkers from Bournmouth, who failed to
meet assessors. Found by DRG members fit and well camping having become
disoriented.
12 Aug YDRP
Two Dog Teams called to assist Cave Rescue Org in a search for a
17-year-old youth from Leeds who had become separated from a party whilst
walking the Three Peeks. Found by Police in Selside approximately half a mile
from point last seen 8 hours later.

Two Dog Teams called to assist Cave Rescue Org in a search for a scout
reported missing from campsite after an argument. Found several hours later by
other scouts in the vicinity of the campsite, walking on the road.

Dog Teams called to assist Cleveland SRT in a search for three 16 year
old youths who whilst on a navigation exercise failed to arrive as finish.
Became benighted completed route at first light. Found by Police.

7-year-old boy reported missing form home by parents. Next day his body was
found not far from home in a gully. A homicide investigation was commenced.

Dog team called to assist Wasdale MRT in a search for a 21-year-old
man. He had failed to arrive in Cleator Moor following a late night walk from
Egremont. Nothing found.
21 Aug South Wales
Six Dog Teams from SWERA region called to assist Welsh Rescue teams in a
search for a 74-year-old man missing from home, found by Police dog handler
after two days searching.
23 Aug MPMAP
Dog Teams called to assist Calder Valley SRT in a search for a 50 year
old woman missing from home in the early hours of the morning, believed to be
suffering from depression. Found by relatives and evacuated by Calder Valley
team members.
27 Aug NESRA
Dog Teams called to assist Upper Teesdale FRA in a search for 11
people on a charity walk around Parish Boundary. Did not reach rendezvous owing
to mist and bad weather. Walked off unaided to Langthwaite as search got under
way.
September
01 Sep PDMRO
Five Dog teams called to assist Glossop MRT in a search for four Duke
of Edinburgh expedition members who failed to rendezvous. Due to one of them
having a medical condition, a search was initiated, Group found by SARDA member
Peter Stewart on Northern Edge of Bleaklow.
06 Sep LDSAMRA
Three Dog Teams called to assist Keswick MRT in a search for two men
overdue from rock climbing on Great Gable. One had suffered a fall and injured a
knee, which slowed down their return to the valley. Two SARDA handlers at
Seathwaite on route to their search area met them.
21 Sep South Wales
Six Dog Teams from SWERA called to assist Morais MRT in a search for a
79-year-old woman from Cardiff, missing from home. Suffering from Dementia.
Found safe earley evening next day. 26 Sep LDSAMRA Eight Dog Teams called to
assist Kendal MRT in a search for a 43-year-old man reported by companion
missing from Dales Way walk. Kendal MRT member on the road near the walker’s car
found the man.
October

Dog Teams called to assist Buxton MRT in a search for a 65-year-old
man with senile dementia who had gone missing from home. Found by workmen in a
cement factory nearby, just prior to search commencing.
25 Oct LDSAMRA
Five Dog Teams called to assist Langdale Ambleside MRT in a search for
a missing walking party including a 6-year-old boy. Found by Langdale team
member at Brotherkeld, Eskdale as dog search commenced.
November
10 Nov LDSAMRA
Twenty One Dog Teams called to assist Langdale Ambleside MRT in a
search for two males in their 30’s reported missing by wives. Atrocious weather
conditions had forced the men to shelter in a workman’s hut at Angle Tarn, after
wandering around most of the night, they were found by members of Langdale MRT,
cold but otherwise well the next morning an walked off the hill.
17 Nov SWERA
Five Dog Teams called to assist Dartmoor Rescue Group (Tavistock) in a
search for a 24-year-old woman missing from home, be suffering from depression.
Found unconscious and hypothermic by Search Dog Scruff and Search Dog Mac with
Alex Lyons. (DOG FIND)

Eight Dog Teams called to assist Keswick MRT in a search for a
33-year-old male, overdue on a walk over Allen Crags, Glaramara. Found by SARDA
member Dominic Atkinson, man was well equipped and had gone to ground in
Langstrath. Walked off in frosty clear weather cold but uninjured.

Three Dog Teams called to assist Cleveland SRT in a search for a
elderly man missing in a urban area. Police subsequently found his body outside
the handlers search areas.
21 Dec LDSAMRA
Six Dog Teams called to assist Furness MRT Lifeboat and Coastguard
team in a search of the shoreline at Roosebeck House After a man had entered a
treacherous sea whipped up by gale force winds. Teams search beach and foreshore
for two days. Body washed ashore two weeks later.

Five Dog Teams called to assist Edale MRT in a search for a missing
female patient, Search of hospital Ground and golf course. Found later in wrong
bed by hospital staff.
