An 8
year old Bolton schoolgirl was reported missing after lunch. Search of local
park underway when misper was located at Mother’s house. Weather – wet. Incident
terminated at 1815 hrs (3.5 dog hours)

Request from Glossop MRT to help with search for an adult male suffering from
Alzheimer’s. Search of area carried out but nothing found and search terminated
at 2130hrs.

Search
for missing 72 yr old man in Dovestones area. Misper was diabetic and depressed
but was an enthusiastic walker. Search of Dovestones reservoir perimeter and
adjoining woodland carried out. Misper located drowned by boat crew in
reservoir. Weather: rain, mild. Incident closed at 0800 20 Jan 04 (21 dog

Search for missing 13 yr old boy, not seen since leaving school in Long Eaton
the previous day. Search of school grounds carried out; stood down when Police
enquiries located misper. Weather: dry. Incident closed at 1330 hrs. Dogs not
deployed.

Called out at 0515
Search for missing teenager in Buckley area. Misper believed drunk and
possibly under the influence of drugs. Search dogs tasked to search an area of
fields and woodland between last known sighting and misper’s home. Nothing
found; search terminated. Weather: heavy showers. (16 dog hours)

Search for a missing 23 yr old male who had left home on Monday 29th
at 0500 hrs and had not been seen since. Misper turned up safe and well in
Macclesfield during search. Weather: light wind, dry. Incident closed at 1600
hrs (18 dog hours)

Request made for search dogs to assist in a search for a group of
teenagers reported as lost and disorientated near Pyms Chair. Party located safe
and well by Police as search was commencing. Incident closed at 2230 hrs.

Major search for missing Chinese
cocklers in Morcambe Bay. Dogs first tasked to search coastline from Hesk Bank
to Bolton le Sands then to search coastline from Silverdale as far as channel.
Mispers all located dead in water/on mud banks by RAF Sea Kings. Weather: dry,
strong winds. Incident closed at 0700 hrs 05 Feb 04. (24 dog hours)
17 Feb 04 YDRP 1 dog team (Kev Stead) + UWFRA. Called out at
1600 hrs
Search for man estranged from
his wife, living in his car on Brimham Moor. Police suspected he might take his
own life so approached at which point he ran on to the moor and into woodland.
Team and search dog tasked with search in case he had taken an overdose. Search
terminated when misper phoned his wife from Harrogate that evening.
Weather: dry, cold. Incident closed at 1945 hrs (2 dog hours)

Search for 26 yr old
schizophrenic male, missing from hospital. Misper was seen in Stoke Cannon, but
disappeared when car sent to pick him up. Search dogs tasked with search of
farmland around village. Search terminated with nothing found. Weather:
dry, cold. (27 dog hours) Note: Misper later located dead, outside of search
area.

old woman with history of self harm. Search of Greenacre Cemetery (Gtr

embankments for 87 yr old man who had gone for a walk from home in Rishton and
had failed to return. Misper located by Police. Weather: frosty. Incident

Search for elderly man who
occasionally walked from Keighley to Halifax, last seen the previous day at
Oakworth, nr Keighley but failed to return home. Search of fields surrounding
area and moorland on possible route carried out by members of SARDA England
course. Search terminated with nothing found. Weather: dry, clear.
Note: Misper located dead on 24 Mar by walkers, 4km from point last seen and
outside of search area.

mental health problems, missing from home in Burscough. One local + 2 from SARDA
England course carried out search of farmland near mispers house. Misper turned
up safe and well at his mothers’ house the following day. Weather: dry, cold.

Call received from duty
controller to help with search for an adult male who had crashed his car on a
remote moorland road near Stocksbridge and disappeared. Complete search of the
area was made by Police and mountain rescue teams but nothing was found.
Incident closed at 1900 hrs.

with search for the driver of an overturned car found off the road near
Newhaven, Derbyshire by Police. MRT and dogs stood down when misper located safe
and well at home. Incident closed at 0515 hrs.

8 yr old girl absconded from
foster home at Blackshaw Head, a village surrounded by moorland on the Yorks/Lancs
border. Search of roads, paths and moorland undertaken from point last seen.
Misper turned up safe and well at home of her natural father in Halifax, 11
miles away. Weather: dry, misty. Incident closed at 2200hrs. (8 dog
hours)

Wales who had been drinking in Buxton the previous evening but did not return to
his lodgings. Search of wooded area and tracks in Goyt Valley where he was last
seen carried out with nothing found. Weather: Wet. Incident terminated

alcohol rehab centre on 5th May after a failed attempt at suicide.

20 yr old male left a pub in Crediton at 2340 hrs
and was seen on CCTV heading home but has not been seen since. Search of woods

29 yr old diabetic schizophrenic woman went for a
walk at 0900 hrs but did not return home. She was located, confused but
uninjured at Okehampton Railway Station by Police before search dogs deployed.

a car park in the Goyt Valley. Misper found deceased during search. Incident

Burnham on Sea, Somerset, for missing 78 yr old missing woman, known to be

Called out at 2350 hrs
Search for vulnerable 24 yr old man, missing for 2
days in Harrogate area. He had phoned home and described his location in view of
a golf course. This and adjoining land and disused railway were searched by
SARDA with nothing found. (The misper was located several weeks later by a
farmer at the bottom of a hedge about 0.5 mile from search site). Weather –
showers. Incident closed at 1600 hrs. (15 dog hours)

Search for 35 yr old man seen entering Venford
reservoir. Water had been searched by Police divers who recovered a weighted bag
and requested search dog assistance. Search dog Becky located body in water at
edge of reservoir 4 minutes after deploying. DOG FIND
– IAN SPRECKLEY AND SEARCH DOG BECKY. Weather – fine & sunny.

Search for 33 yr old man missing from home in
Plymouth the previous evening. Misper had telephoned to say “Goodbye” at
midnight. SRTs and SARDA searched woodland and coastal paths around Mount
Edgcumbe House, south-east Cornwall. Teams stood down after mobile telephone was
tracked to Hayle, in north-west Cornwall. Weather – warm & dry. Incident closed
at 1500 hrs. (12 dog hours)

Exmouth and suspected of taking an overdose. Search of parkland and allotments

Search for 60 yr old man missing from home in
Whitley, nr Dewsbury. Misper had recently undergone brain surgery. Search of
fields and woodland carried out when search was redirected to missing man’s own
farm, where he was located (dead) in a slurry pit by his son and a farm worker.
Weather – sunny. Incident closed at 1600 hrs (6 dog hours)

Search for two 25 yr old female walkers who had
taken shelter from a lightning storm on Bleaklow, only to be overtaken by
darkness. They then phoned to say they were lost. Search dog tasked to clear
moorland around Mill Hill. Mispers located cold but well by Kinder MRT section.
Weather – wet with low cloud. Incident closed at 2300 hrs (10 dog minutes)

Tavistock and Ashburton. Called out at 0645 hrs.
Search for 40 yr old man missing from campsite. He
had left the campsite at 2300 hrs the previous night for a walk and became lost
in the mist. He sent a text to say he was lost but OK and at 0530 called the
Police. The Police sent out a car and advised him to call again when he heard
the Police car siren, which he did. Search dogs tasked to search from last known
position, concentrating on tors and rocky areas. The mist cleared and he was
able to walk unaided to Powder Mill pottery, where he was collected cold but
well by DRG land rover. Weather – misty but dry. Incident closed at 1200 hrs (10
dog hours).

7 dog teams (Dave Warden, Simon Adams, Dave Herbert, Andy Colau, John Coombs,
Dave Marsh, Kevin Stead) + Holme Valley SRT. Called out at 1150 hrs.
A
48 yr old male farm worker from same farm as 19 July incident at Whitley, nr
Dewsbury was reported missing. Misper reported to be severely diabetic and
depressed due to suspicion that he was suffering from cancer, exacerbated by the
earlier death of the farmer as previously reported. In view of the fact that the
mispers car was missing, the search concentrated on lanes and access to woodlane
in the local vicinity. With nothing found and insufficient information to
justify a protracted search, dog search was terminated at 1730 hrs. Weather –
showers. Incident terminated at 1800 hrs.

Search for missing autistic 40 year man with mental age of 5 who had run
away from his care team in a forest area at Lydard Hill, Taunton. Misper was
frightened of people and dogs. Search dog Strom located misper who then ran
into area confined by Police and search teams, where he was apprehended,
cold but well. DOG FIND – DAVE HUMPHREY AND
SEARCH DOG STORM. Subject asked for and was given the “magic
stick” from the search dog. Weather – dry, light wind. Incident terminated

Search for a 12 year old boy missing from home in
New Mills since the previous day. He was not located during the search but
turned up safe and well in Glossop the following day. Weather – dry. Incident

A man suffering from depression walked out of his
relatives’ house in Ashford on the Water, failing to return that evening. A
search of river banks in the area was carried out, but was terminated when the
misper phoned in from Stockport. Weather – dry. No further details.

Search for a woman who had fallen out with her
husband whilst at a party in Sheffield. She had walked off into a wooded area
and SARDA were tasked to search this area. The search was terminated at 1100 hrs

Search for missing, possibly suicidal 37 year old
man whose car was found abandoned in Turton, Bolton. Moorland search carried out
with misper being located by Police and admitted to a psychiatric care unit.

Team of six 15 year old girls on Two Moors Way
failed to reach the pick up point before dark and were unable to contact the
school. SARDA dog and handler tasked to search large moorland area to both sides
of path. Mispers turned up later. Weather - wet, floods. Search terminated at

Search for 49 yr old possibly suicidal man missing
from home in Burnley. Search called off before dogs deployed when it was
discovered that misper was on the move. Incident terminated at 1725 hours.

patient suffering from Alzheimer’s and Senile Dementia. Misper located safe and
well by Police before dog deployed. Incident terminated at 1200 hrs.

SWERA 1 dog team (Alex Lyons) + DRG Ashburton and Okehampton. Called
out at 0800 hrs.
39 year old female despondent did not return home
previous night and was reported missing the following morning. A report was
received on the Saturday morning that she had been spotted near the River Exe.
Area searched by Police, with nothing found. DRG called to search on the Sunday.
A report of a good sighting was received on the Sunday morning that misper was
in Exeter City Centre. Weather – dry, warm. (5.5 dog hours)

Call out for a man who had phoned the Police to say
he was lost on the Rossendale Moors. Missing man made his own way off the hill
before dogs deployed. Weather – misty. Incident closed at 1632 hrs.

Herbert, Simon Adams) + Calder and Rossendale & Pendle MRTs. Called out at 1935
hrs.
Five children from a care home ran away from carers
during an activity walk at the Widdup Reservoir. Two returned almost
immediately, the other three went missing, dressed in T shirts and tracksuit
tops. Search of moorland carried out. Mispers located safe and well in Burnley
town centre at midnight! Weather – wet, misty, windy, cold. Incident closed at
1200 hrs (20 dog hours).

Riverbank and rural search in Froome, Somerset for
missing 65 year old diabetic female with suicidal tendencies. Search completed;
nothing found. Weather – rain, strong winds. Incident terminated at 0400 hrs (5

Search for a missing 42 yr old suicidal man in
Astley area of Chorley. Misper located by MRT party in a tent 300metres from
search control. Weather – wet. Incident closed at 2350 hrs (1.25 dog hours)

SWERA 4 dog teams (Alex Lyons, Dave Humphrey, Matt Robertson, Pauline
Richards) + Tavistock & Okehampton DRG and Exmoor SRT. Called out at 1800 hrs.
Search for 8 year old boy who was overdue after
playing hide and seek in woodland next to a campsite in North Devon. His
Wellington boots were found in the river. An initial search found nothing but
during a later search Search Dog Storm indicated on the north side of the river,
but could not cross. Search dog Aiken searched the south bank, with nothing
found. Search dog Amber then researched the initial area where Storm had
indicated. The boy was eventually found in woodland by MRT personnel. He had
been on the move during the search and was cold and wet but uninjured when
found. Weather – stormy, high winds, rain. Incident closed at 1400 hrs on 29
Oct. (18 dog hours)

Pennine 1 dog team (Dave Warden) + Calder Valley SRT. Called out at 0400
hrs. A 23 year old male, had fallen from the top path of North Dean Woods (Cropley) through trees, colliding with a tree during his descent in the early hours of the morning. He used his mobile phone to contact WYMAS, but his location was imprecise. CVSRT were called to assist WYMAS in locating and eventually evacuating the casualty. The casualty was located by search dog Sam, his handler and navigator (Jonathan Cole). Team support was summoned and first aid applied by immobilizing neck and ankle. DOG FIND – DAVE WARDEN AND SEARCH DOG SAM. Weather – dry, clear. Incident closed at 0800 (1 dog hour) |

her home in Plymouth since 21 Sep. Search dogs tasked to search woodland and an
old fort near her home. Search terminated with nothing found. Weather – dry,

Search for 40 yr old man with history of suicide
attempts, missing from home in Healy Dell. Search of steep sided river valley
carried out when misper returned home, safe and well. Weather – cool, dry.

Search for a pair of overdue cavers in Kettlewell
area. Thought to be lost on the surface between two cave entrances. Search
terminated when pair were located by underground search team at Providence Pot.
Weather - very cold, with dense fog and nil visibility. Incident terminated at
0530 hrs (2 dog hours)
