January Assessments in The Lake District

The Assessment course held in The Lake District over the weekend of 13th to 15th of January was great success.

Three more dog teams successfully passed their Initial Grade Assessment tests and have made it on to the call out list.

Also on this assessment weekend two search dog teams passed their Upgrade Assessment tests to become Full Grade Search and Rescue Dog Teams.

These results mean that all those teams being assessed passed. The Assessors also decided this year that Tony High and Isla would be awarded the Novice Shield for  showing outstanding performance during their assessment.
The weather over the weekend took everyone by suprise.

Although it was frosty in the mornings we had sunshine everyday and more importantly for most (especially the bodies) no rain.

It is the first time that many of us can remember a January in the Lakes with such nice weather.

Thanks mus go to all the visiting assessors from our sister associations for helping to assess , to the  Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dog Association for arranging the availability of land and to the local land owners for allowing us the use ot the land.
Tony was really please as this is only the 3rd time in 10 years that the shield has been awarded. Tont and Isla also made it into the local news (click here to see Sunderland Echo article)
